I have had my "studio" for over a month now. I love it more than any girl!! I just hate my voice...so I just need outside thoughts on it...is it as bad as I think or is it me just being judgmental. I did dub 2 vocal tracks on it so does it sound to fake? if so how can I keep the warmth that dubbing vocals gives while not getting such a computerized sound? dont pay attention to the guitar (I need new strings and re record them)just let me know honest oponions its the only way to improve.

After reading your intro post, I was expecting some horrible off key vocalist. I was actually pleasantly surprised by the quality of your voice. Your voice reminds me of some of the more acoustic based singers like John Mayer - maybe because you're palying acoustic here. Ever play and sing with electric? The overdubs seem pretty good, they are very close to exact. The recording is fine too. You're way better than you say...Now go add some more to that fabulous song about opportunity.... ;):D

What the hell? Yeah your voice sounds very good. You've got good pitch and a nice tone. With practice you'll only get better, but yeah, you have nothing to worry about. Keep at it.

Regarding the doubled vocal, do you have any effects on one or both of the vocals? Do you have any pitch correction on? That will give a computerized sound. If you do have pitch correction on, definitely take it off and don't use it, because it will prevent you from improving as quickly.

thank you very much for the comments. Sometimes I need some confidence from an outside standpoint. I have always loved music and just want to be good at writing it. I originally had reverb on one of the dub vocal tracks but I took it off to try to get more of a real sound. no other affects on the tracks other than there are 2 tracks.

I will bring this song much better in the near future and will do electric once I can figure out how to get a good sound with my fender. hopefully you will still enjoy and see how I have progressed. Thank you again

yah, I was prepared for anything...

"wow"...

your really good... I'm impressed.

I wish I could get you to critique lyrics I come up with, or god forbid you like one of my trax music enough to try laying down a vocal line.

yah, you have no worries, just enjoy yourself and make music...

You might hate your voice, but I don't.

Voice is something that is hard to get used to when you hear yourself sing.

You have a much better voice than Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Bon Scott, and the like, but there's something all of those guys have (and you do too): songwriting ability and style.

It's like the color yellow. Do you want your car to be yellow? Some would say it's a horrible color for a car, but it fits a banana and a lemon quite well, along with a school bus.

Life is all about different flavors. That's why explorers sailed to the Indies for spices, and why God created blondes, brunettes, black hair, and red heads. He knows what we like. ;)

I'm a huge Jack Johnson fan, by the way, and that genre is always going to be cool.

Yea. You got nothing to worry about man. Your voice has that Jack Johnson thing going on. Good work. Gitz sound good too. Very Personal sounding.

Sounds alright!!

No problems with you're voice that I can hear-we are always our own worse critic. The guitar playing is very cool as well, especially those little stacatto parts you play at the end..

medically speaking, your nervousness about your singing voice is universally justified, everyone goes thru this. Dogs and cats one day become aware of their reflection in the mirror is not another animal; so too one day we grow up and chance to hear our own voice played back on an answering machine.

Perhaps yours sounded melodic to you? LOL... my own sounded nasally and swieakier and much more "effeminate" than I always thought...

we hear our own voice, and our own *singing* both in our ears live everyone else AND thru reverberation that is called "bone conduction". Low frequencies harmonic to the upper registers we think of as speech make us hear a rich, full, bass-to-treble we think of as "our voice", we can HEAR it, right?

uh uh, you have to monitor your voice to make judgements.

everyone, singer or not, has a "key" they speak in daily for a normal tone of voice. If you normally speak in Eb, then thats your "best key" for singing which will require the least work on your part. When you write your "Magnum Opus", it should be in thie key.

your other favorite keys will be a major or minor third up or down, and a perfect ifth either way... these keys, you can go to your happy key for the changeup, or when you shift gears...

You criticize you too much, it's not that bad, I liked it, really

I like your voice too. I had the same problem w/not really liking my voice and comparing myself to others, but over time you learn to accept yourself and even like how you sound. Also, I really enjoyed the LAST CALL song, cool music.

Yeh you can sing. Your voice is natural, cool & original. Totally in key and in time from the short clip I heard. I really liked it. :)

It's nice that after 5 years from the OP they're still getting complements.

I really enjoyed this! I thought it was awesome, keep it up man, you have a really cool voice!
