Can I Do This?

Sorry if this has already been asked, but I didn't exactly know how to search for it. At an acoustic show I'm doing I would like to hook an sm58 into my Marshall solid state head and put some distortion and crazy reverb on it (and then I'll have another normal vocal mic, and only use that mic for certain parts). Would this hurt the microphone or amp at all? I know the signal would be weaker from the mic, so that shouldn't be a problem right? But I wasn't sure about the whole impedance thing. Let me know what you think...

The impedance problem only affects the sound. Since you are using that setup to screw up the sound, you don't need to spend $20 to match the impedance. It won't hurt anything.

The only problem you might have is feedback. Careful placement of the amp and mic should be able to deal with that.

An impedance mismatch normally just dulls the sound. But then again, running a 58 through a Marshall is not the way to get pristine audio. No problem.
