I had to restrain myself from bidding on it because I don't "need" anything else. But, for $32!! Does anyone see something wrong with it? Other than of course, the cover plate which is not a biggie.

I have to stop looking at ebay.

No PayPal. Very limited testing. No word on condition of heads. Pretty old 70 series. Unknown machine to many. Potentially costly shipping.

Timing has a lot to do with bid prices, as well as anything else.

I'll reiterate what cjacek just said:

~seller's unfamiliar with gear

~gear is untested

~age of gear

~size of gear

~potential unknowns to buyer

~potential unknowns in shipping

~relatively little-known gear, not of a popular mainstream type that e'one would know, have or be familar with.

This is serious gear. This is not "some cheap Tascam 4-track" that e'one who went digital seems to say they started on.

Next question,... why did I not bid on this item??

Answer: All of the above,... and I was asleep at the time of closing. That, and I already have "enough" gear to deal with! Although a 1/2" 4-track is way off on my "radar",... truthfully, the 70-Series may be mighty fine, but it's a bit beyond the "vintage" I'm after. A nice ATR-60/4 would do me just right!

Anyway, this one looked decent, and there's hardly a better deal happening on Ebay/Tascam for weeks!!

The configuration on it is a little confusing too. What is the second deck for? Personally I like the the way the 70s stuff looks. I'm thinking it was one of those field recorders that was taken out of its original carry case. Because its got no back on it.

Oh, well. I did check on shipping on it before it ended and it would have cost me about $100 to have it shipped. If this were about a month ago I would have grabbed it. Still, what a deal for a 1/2" 4 track.
