I'm recording my band and I just can't seem to get the vocal sound I'm looking for (Alien Ant Farm/ Puddle of mudd)

Iv'e uploaded a short vocal clip to Briefcase.yahoo.com/fixvocals
password=vocals
it's in the my documents folder and it's small 1/2mb

If anyone wants to give these a shot, it would be greatly appriecated. Let me know what Eq/Effects Etc. or feel free to upload your version and tell me what you did.

This is recorded completely dry/ Sm58/Joe meek Compressor/M-audio card.

I know this is asking alot but any help would be great!

I don't see any file, or anyway to login.

But, in the meantime. What's wrong with them?

Your asking an impossible question. How can anyone possibly know what to fix? No one can add effects without knowing what the rest of song even sounds like. I mean, one could but it would be pointless.

I suggest posting the full song in the mixing clinic(on this BBS, few floors down), with specifics as to what you don't like about .. whatever in the song. You will get feedback. In this context, it's meaningless.

Listening to it as it is. There is a bit of sibilance, (ain't there always) maybe attributed to your compressor settings, the mic, or the singer. Maybe it doesn't matter in the context of the mix. Is this in 6/4?

I just listened. I did not hear it in context of a mix,
but Ill tell you this. That vocal chain works incredibly well for the singer.It sounds excellent on my ns10ms It has the phat that I could attribute to the joemeek and the clarity from the m-audio card. The sm58 sounds perfect on this voice.

I am basically saying that while you might not be able to get puddle of mud, neither can matchbox twenty or even nickleback. TThe fact that they dont have the pum sound does not mean that their vocal chain is not every bit as good.

The singer already has an awesome voice. THats half of it. THe other half is to write a song with an incredible hook.

With some eq, this could be as good as most any vocal chain out there
