I THINK.... it means a "Head" being the actual amplifier part.... and the Cabinet, which is what holds your speaker or speakers.

I think a full stack is like when you think of the big Marshall Stacks for example, that have a Head, and 2 cabinets. (3 pieces)

Am I right or wrong on this ?

take a whole bunch of basses, put them ON TOP OF EACH OTHER(this is key). now make sure that you use an even number of basses(you'll see why in a moment). take the total number of basses you have in the pile, and divide by 2(no more, no less.... dividing by 4 is right out). take (off the top of the pile) exactly the number you came up with.... viola, a bass halfstack.

This sort of question probly belongs in the nubie section.

"half stack" refers to both bass and guitar. It is one speaker cabinet and one "head". The head is the pre and power amp section that you plug the instrument into, and it powers the speaker cabinet. A "full stack" is simply two speaker cabinets. It is considered "full" because most "heads" are designed to run 2 speaker cabinets.
