can analog distortion be fixed?

This is an obvious rookie question, but here goes. We do church services in our local state prison and the sermons are recorded for us to to take home with us to archive. The sound man likes the music loud in the services, so the sermons end up loud too and when recorded to cassette, there is some distortion to the loudest parts. Can this be fixed? I have recently aquired a tc finalizer express, a presonus dcp 8, and a rane deq60. Would any of these be applicable to this type of project? Thanks in advance. Mark

Soundforge has a Clipped Peak Restoration tool BUT if you have audible, nasty distortion, I don't think it'll put it back together. I've had good luck using it surgicly on digital overs but that's about it. You may be screwed.
