I can't figure out how to automate a track mute on/off. I know I can do it with volume envelopes, but is there not a way to automate a mute the old fashion way- push a mute button while writing it to automation? Is it a matter of a command or defining a static region where the mute is to take place? Hell, how about a mute envelope! Is there not even that? What am I missing?! It sure would save some horse power being able to do so. Thanks.

There's a mute envelope. Use that.

Or you could split the track and just take out the bits you don't want.

Which version are you running? Perhaps the mute envelope isn't in yours.

I'm running 4.0 No mute envelope. Oh well. Guess I gotta upgrade!

You can use a volume envelope. Add 2 points where you want to drop the volume down, keep one of them at 0db and put the other one to -inf. Then do the same at the end (where you want to bring the volume back up).
Hope this is helps.
