I checked those out last night and still don't have a sense of what they're all about. But this did help. Welcome to emo 101!

I didn't hear a drastic difference between the two except the 2nd sounded maybe a little more commercial? Hearing these two bands helped me understand what informs some of the stuff posted in the clinic by a lot of younger people here...screaming, rapid-fire kick drum, etc.
The second was in the same stream as the first, they were released just one year apart (2001, 2002). I posted them as an example of the same 'vibe'.

The Used turned more mainstream with their 2nd album after they had tied with My Chemical Romance (it was still an OK-ish record), but then they developed some weird friendship with Head Automatica and after their drummer (and the founding member) left to become a drummer for Rancid, they became totally shit.

I had to check them out as well and have to admit, I kind of liked that pork and beans vid...

Dude there's Chric Croker aka Leave Britney Alone dude in that video :D

Very nice work on Hieroglyphic Writings and Ghost Mountain. I thought the performances and arrangements on those were the best.

So, you never answered me where in Germany your at....

Hey, XLR!

I completely forgot to mention I uploaded 3 more songs. I swear: They are much better than the tracks that preceded them. Am I going too far when I say that even Greg will dig them? :D

Thanks! These songs are a bit older (Hieroglyphic...was written 2 years ago and is probably my cheesiest track) with the exception of "Huggy bunch" I posted earlier this year in a separate thread.
I´m still not sure about the arrangement of "Ghost Mountain". When I recorded it I kinda lost interest in the song halfway through and stopped working on it. A couple of months later I was screwing around with the drum-pattern of the "Lalala-Part" and ended up with these weird distorted, 8-bit-drums. Back then I thought it was cool to let this song go on for two more minutes without anything happening, but now that part bores the hell out of me. I showed the song to a friend of mine and he liked it the way it was...that´s why I stopped working on it once and for all. The whole production was a complete mess and I did not know what I was up to when I started recording. So I think it´s funny that you think that the arrangement of this track is any good.

Hello Nightfire!
Completely forgot about your question after that "labeling"-affair.
My hometown is Nienburg which lies right in the middle between Hannover and Bremen. But right now I am studying in Osnabrück. Schönen Gruß nach Giessen! Wie ist das Wetter? :D

Ive been living here for about 5 months now, and Im going back home (canada) in one month. Been working at a humanitarian aid organization here in Giessen. To be honest, I cant say I have been very much impressed yet with Germany, at least not Hessen. I did like it in Bayern, the people were kinda wierd there but the scenery was beautifull. I havent been to the north coast yet.
Oh yeah, Berlin was a good time too.
