60's guy

I have my own ideas as to what I would play for bass on this tune, but I’d just as soon hear what some of you guys would play for a bass track on this song named Winter.

Please entertain and impress me with your bass track.

Winter

Winter all year long - arghhhhh! Try living in Alberta - it's already like that! :D

Anyway, this is pretty cool, a little bass and it will be complete. Sure sounds nice with what you got going now....The acoustics sound really nice especially the lead... I might turn up the drums a tiny bit...

Great song 60's Guy

:D :) :D :)

I'll give it a whirl...

Do me a favor and post the intended changes; you have a lot of suspensions and tone clusters going, and I want to make sure I do what you're intending for the piece...

OK, you weren't around, so I just wang it. (wung it? winged it? :) )

Here's my first pass...

I gotta check my schedule. I may not have time to mess with this...

i'd give it a shot, but i damn near peeled off the fingernail on my bass-playin' index finger yesterday. gotta give it some time to heal up first, haha

I was gonna ask the same thing. I want the original tracks.

Phil,

For having just wanged it, I'd say you wung it pretty good! :)

A little background is in order here as to how this tune came about.

A few months ago, Nicole sent me a scratch rythym electric guitar track to listen to. I liked her chord pattern and I heard possibilies for it. I rerecorded the rhytym guitar and an additional guitar with 2 different acoustic guitars. I also made a slight change to the chord structure.

I also wrote/recorded the first and second verse lyrics, and recorded piano and keys.

The intention at that time was for Nicole to write additional lyrics and record a lead guitar track.

The project sort of fell by the wayside. I'm not sure if Nicole lost interest in it because of ongoing events in her life, or for other reasons, but I still feel the song has merit and should be finished.

The original tracks are 6 plus minutes in length. The version you recorded your bass to is a cut and paste version of a stereo track that I did in Adobe Audition. That may explain the lo fi sound a bit. I was messing around with some of the parametric EQ presets and I lost track of my mind. :D

The basics are:

Winter (capo 1st fret)

Intro

Fsus/F Fsus/F C C
Fsus/F Fsus/F C C

Fsus/F Fsus/F C
Another winter bears down on me

Fsus/F Fsus/F C
Snow flies as far as my eyes see

Dm79/F
Here at home

A#sus/G
Wrapped in your arms

Dm79/F
I feel

A#sus/G
Safe and warm

A#m7 Cm Fsus/F
I wish it was winter all year long

Fsus/F
Candlelight

Fsus/F C
Carafe of wine for two

Fsus/F Fsus/F
Moonlight through the skylight

C
Glows on you

Dm79/F
I lose myself

A#sus/G
Within your arms

Dm79/F
Winter’s wind

A#sus/G
Is no harm

A#m7 Cm Fsus/4
I wish it was winter all year long

????? Not sure if the chords lined up because of the cut and paste, but you'll get the idea.

I'll email the individual track wave files to you, but I'd first like to see if I can pull a rabbit out of my butt, write another verse or two, rerecord the vocal, and send the extended version.

I'm supposed to head on out of here shortly to go play golf. It's cold and raining out. I hope the round gets postponed. I hate playing golf in the rain!

 I was headed out the door and the phone rang. No golf today! :D

Cool, send it when you got it...

Incidentally, some helpful notation shorthand tipsin a flat key, express chords in flats; that's Bbm7, not A#... It's the IV chord.. ALso note; Dminor 7 with the 9th in there is simply expressed Dm9; the dominant 7th is implied. (If it were a C# in the chord it'd be expressed in a way that can't be done in this format, but "Dm (superscript)maj7(end sup) add 9... :)
