It's the smell..
Ok...I need some ears here. I am working on a collaborative CD with Buddah, from RP. It's been going well until I began to loose the crossover's in my beloved Jamos. So, I picked up a new pair of monitors and am having a hell of a time adjusting to them. I think I'm almost there but I need you guys to lend an ear to the mix and let me know what you hear.

Specifically, I'm concerned about the bottom end of this mix. The old monitors had 8" woofs...the new ones 5". Still totally dig the new ones as soon as I finally calibrate my ears.

Tell me what you hear.

This is a tune I wrote and recorded in Sonar 4.

Slicked up in SoundForge 7.0.

Buddah on Guitars and voice...both tracked with a MXL LDC.
Buddah miced a cab with the MXL and I believe used a Les Paul for the guitar lines.
I used my new Casio Privia for the piano, the rest of the tracks are mine from my wood-burning Korg N364. :)

Thanks!

Listening now....very good sounding man...no bottom end problem here. My system isn't real high end, but seems to be pretty neutral, and I can hear everything well. This is well mixed, and performed. I got nothing for ya....it is a great listen man. Well done. :D

Sounds very nice.

Cool and mellow.

If only there were real drums on it. . . Otherwise no complaints at all.

Not much help, really, but keep it up!!!

sweet jam. reminds me of the ocean. but yea, the bottom end seems fine here.
nice work

We may be the only 2 on the planet that owns em. :D

What do you have?

I owned a pair of distant relatives of what would be the E805 today, cept mine had 8" with that weird center cap.

I loved them...so smooth and ez to mix with. They were not good near fields, better as a mid field, but I knew them well and mixes translated with ease. Kinda like the NS10 with out the whole bleeding ear thing.

Sounds good on my end.....no nits to pick although you may want to do the oil burner upgrade like I did on my old n364!!!!

Coronet 40s, little two ways. They make everything sound to good so they're like yes men if you try to monitor with them. The Events, on the other hand, are brutally honest.

Only bookshelf speaker on this comp - I keep the recording ebast isolated from the net.
Sounds good, mellow plenty of range no ultra bass anywhere but it is an MP3 afterall.
Sweet sounds all 'round.
I did get a hint of gazoo though. Is it really in there or am I imagining it?

Very nice!! The bass response sounds fine to my ears in headphones.
