O.K.

So I recorded this MIDI arangement into audio tracks. Sounds cool right? Problem is that there is hiss even with the recording levels being apropriate. So I try cleaning up the .wav files with Cool Edit Pro. This caused more problems in Cakewalk. (I'll figure that out later).

Anyway is'nt there an internal filter in Cakewalk that one can use?
(By the way, the .wav files are getting worst.....more hiss and more noise.) Prior to trying to clean them up I saved them onto a CD-RW so I would still have the originals. But evenso, they still have more hiss now than before. Is this normal?

How are you recording your midi tracks to audio?

And do you mean that the originals saved on CD-RW have more hiss than they did prior to saving them on the CD-RW? Saving them to CD-RW will not affect the sound unless the data has somehow been altered.

If your tracks are getting noisier, it could be because of any processing you're doing to them.

I gave up trying to figure out what happened. I deleted the whole arrangement. I ended up trying to re-record all the MIDI tracks to audio again. Now a new problem has arised.

It seems that no matter how many times I try, the following track I record after the first one does not line up. It's off by a milli-secound. I record one MIDI track into audio. Then the next MIDi track I record is off by a fraction and it becomes annoying. (You know it sounds like the guy who just can't keep up with the timing). Any ideas fellas?

That's latency. It's never been much of a problem for me but I know what you're talking about. If it's a problem, one thing you can do is to simply slide the track back a couple milliseconds in your editor (in your case, cakewalk) until it lines up with the other tracks.
