Cakewalk Sonar Problems

Well I used to use it with my SB Live but then I couldn't record lyrics over my tracks so I went out and bought a SB eXtigy. But now everytime I try to record in Sonar my mic channel pics up the music from the other channel. But the thing is I have headphones on why I record so it's not picking the music up from the speakers it's getting it directly form the other channel. Now I want to know how can I record without my mic track picking up my other audio track. Keep in mind that I have a soundblaster eXtigy and I'm using Sonar 1.0. Thanks!!!
 
In AudioHQ -> Surround Mixer, choose recording source to be either "Mic in" or "Line In". (or is it "Analog Mix"?)
 
It sounds like you have your recording source set to the dreaded "What U Hear." As moskus said, use your mixer to change it to Line In or Mic (whichever you are plugged into).
 
I just love it when someone has a problem and just buys more gear hoping it will go away... wish I could throw money around like that (sigh).
 
No at first my Live didn't record over audi AT ALL!!!! So I bought this card thanks for the help you guys.
 
Yeah it works but the lyrics record off time with the beat.
 
Are you using both soundcards at once? One for recording and the other for playback, or just the Extigy?

Or are you using Sonars Input Monitoring (at Options -> Audio)? If so, turn it off. I'll bet your latency is way to high to do you any good.
 
Im not using both soundcards at once and I'm not using the monitors and I put my latency down to 44khz I think that's what you meant and it goes alittle better. do you have AIM or MSN Messenger?

No, this is the Sampling frequensy. The Latency is adjusted with the slider at Options -> Audio. Try rising it.

I use Messenger, but doesen't like to post my email-adress here, I hate spam!
