Hey

Our band puts everything through our mixer and out to our speakers for performing.

We've been trying to just take a cord from the 'monitor' of the mixer and stick it into the laptops 'mic' input. But when I use cakewalk everything is overdriven and distorted, no matter how low I turn everything.
I tried turning the volume in 'control panels, sound,' down, but nothing changes.

thanks

Try the laptop's line-in rather than the mic input. It's possible the mic input is being boosted by a mic-preamp on your soundcard.

You could also click on the laptop's mixer icon and drag the mixer's fader's down to see if that improves matters.

hey thanks

I did tied the whole mixer turning down thing previously to no avail.

The mic preamp thing might make sense tho... There actually is no line in. Kinda strange. Its a brand new Toshiba 1.2 GHZ

thanks tho
anyone else have any ideas
greatly appreciated
