HI CAKEWALKERS. I AM USING A PC, WITH WIN XP, CAKEWALK PRO 9, MOTU 2408, AND SOME BLACKFACE ADATS.
I CANNOT GET CAKE WALK TO RECORD ALL 16 TRACKS I AM SENDING VIA THE MOTU. I HAVE DIGITAL GOING FROM THE ADAT TO THE COMPUTER, VIA THE MOTU, BUT I ONLY SEEM TO GET TRACKS 1+2 FROM THE ADATS. (TRACKS 1,2,9,10) I CANT SEEM TO GET ALL OF THE TRACKS TO GET INTO CAKEWALK.
ANYONE WITH ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!

I'm not a motu guy but do you have each track in cakewalk assigned to the correct input channel? Also I'd imagine you'd need a very fast pc/hdd setup to record 16 tracks simultaneously.

I'm running the same set up except I have 20 bit ADATs. Are you assigning the ADAT channels to the Cakewalk tracks?

hi, more info reguarding the problem

yes I am sending the cakewalk channels to different spots. It seems that cake walk is limited, heres the example.
channels 1,3,5,7 are left adat a....channels 2,4,6,8 right adat a, 9,11,13,15, are left adat b, and 10,12,14,16 are right adat b.
is that what they should be?
i figured cake walk would have it narrowed down to the channel, not left and right excetera.

thanks for your help.
If its possible I can call you and pick your brains, e mail me and let me know, cause I cant stand being stumped like this!

thanx, merry x mas

If I read that right, your o/s is not presenting pure stereo channels to cakewalk, and you are being forced to select either L or R channel assigned to a cw track?

By my estimation you should be able to assign a stereo (L,R) input channel to a single cw track, so it would appear as:

Channel 1 - MOTU Stereo input 1,2

Channel 2 - MOTU Stereo input 3,4

etc...

i have frontier design's wavecenter/tango24 with the WDM drivers installed, and it gives me the option of seeing my channels as individual channels 1..8 or as [1,3,5,7] and [2,4,6,8]. your driver for motu must be doing to later.

since i have the option, i view my 8 channels as individual tracks instead of groups.

hi

i think i have exauseted all your ideas, and mine.
i believe alot of this has to do with windows xp. i am about to go to win me or the like, because the frustration is killing me.
thanks everyone
