Dear fellow Rockers!
I am recording in 24 bits using SONAR. However when I try using SONAR effects like compression, etc, I get an error saying " the format is not supported". I used to be able to do it using 16 bit.

Doesn't Cakewalk support 24 bits?
Thanks!

It does.

You check to see if you have set the audio parameters or change audio format to 24 bit. Also, check and see if your audio card supports 24 bit audio. Some older versions of Windows don't

Yes, I am recording on 24 bit SONAR. The only problem is when I try to use effects that it complains. SO basically I cant use effects on 24 bit unless I transfer it to 16 bit.

I got a similar type of error with some of the Ultra Funk effects when patched into the channel, but were ok if patched into an aux bus.

As far as I know everything has to be set to the same bitrate you should check your soundcard settings to make sure they match your sonar settings.

GOOD LUCK!

which efx are u talkin about? i know i have the same problem wit some of the TC efx....their reverb gives me the same error report

Some songs I can use the effects with 24bit. some tracks I get an error(Directshow error) Still messing with it.
THanks!

i am having the same problem, but i am using HS2002. When i am viewing my audio effects there are 2 sections, one that is labeled cakewalk efx and the other section has a different set of efx. I can use the cakewalk effects with 16 and 24 bit. I can only use the other effects with 16 bit. the cakewalk efx are good but the other efx offer a wider range of efx such as compression and more reverbs. If i can't fix this problem i will probably just stay in 16 bit.
