I currently sequence to a Yamaha sy77 synth's on-board sequencer using sounds from the Yamaha, a Kurzweil PC88MX, a Korg X5D, and an Alesis SR 16 drum machine. To send the sequence sounds to my Tascam 564 digital protastudio, I have to connect a regular 1/4" phone jack from each synth's mono out to the 564 input channels. I'm getting Cakewalk Pro 8.0 and I understand that you can record vocals and other instruments to Cakewalk??!?! I currently connect to the computer via a Soundblaster soundcard with the standard 5-pin midi in & out cables. Questions:
1. If Cakewalk can record vocals, how do you connect a mic to the computer? Or, if I have the mic connected to the Tascam 564 as a digital mixer, how do I connect the 564 to the computer? (YES, IT KNOW IT"S BASIC AND STUPID! BUT I"M A BIT BEHIND THE TIMES)
2. If I buy the Tascam CD-400 CD Burner, does it connect directly to the computer? or do I have to somehow connect a 1/4" jack from each synth to the CD burner (like I do with the 564 recorder) to record CD's?
3. I'm not sure about the difference between CDR, CDRW, and CDRWDA, but would the Tascam CD-400 burner be the best setup for me to make CD's from my sequences?
