I've been browsing this forum for a while and I find it very useful! I am also a complete nOOb to the site.

I have a copy of Cakewalk Express Gold I got for free with my sound card. I am wondering if it is possible to use EZdrummer to substitute for the midi drums that came with Express Gold. If it is possible, how would I go about doing this?

Any ideas??
Thanks!

I don't see Express on the list of supported apps, so it probably won't work at this moment.

I dont know anything about Express Gold.
I use EZDrummer with Sonar 6 though.

Can you insert soft synths in gold?

Welcome!

Cakewalk Express used to be included with Soundblaster Live! audio cards. It was only produced until 1997 (roughly).

It would be a safe bet to say EZ Drummer won't work with it. You might want to look at Cakewalk's Home Studio, or even something like Reaper: http://reaper.fm/

Toontrack states that EZ Drummer hasn't been tested with Reaper, but may work with it. Something to try at least. Reaper is pretty popular around here and is a very decent product.

If you have other questions, just ask 'em!

FWIW ...

When I bought DFHS, I was looking for a midi clip review program that would work with the DFHS template, and someone suggested Reaper as a program potential for doing that.

So I loaded DFHS into Reaper, and it worked just fine. I wound up not using it for several unrelated reasons -- mainly it didn't work well with my work flow, but there was no problem with the operation of DFHS w/in Reaper.

EZD is little brother to DFHS, so I would anticipate that it would work just as fine. Yet, as with all things digital YMMV ...

Best,

Kev-

I use EZDrummer with Reaper. Just make sure you have the latest update for EZ. Before that, there were a few bugs but they are worked out now.
