CakeWalk 9 Midi Help

I a Fatar sl 880 controller keyboard controller going through a midiman sport 2x2 controlling a TR-rack into my mixer out and into my Omni studio interface. I can not get cakewalk to accept my midi setup. Cakewalk detected all of my midi components but when I attempt to record I get nothing. Can someone please help!

When a problem like this arises, break it into it's smallest chunks.. When you load a prerecorded midi demo (from the cake cd) can you get it to play on your instrument? as a multi-timbral piece? If not, start there. Make sure connections are correct, drivers etc. are loaded in cake. If you can play, then make sure the keyboard is set to sent on a channel cake is set to receive. Not to sound too basic, but when you record in cake, first you have to arm the track, then hit record (not just play like a tape deck) Let us know how you fare with this.
