CakeFX: TapeSim Thingy

I've used it with some success. I've used it for "warming" tracks (giving a bit of distortion/OD). It seems a bit crude for use as a bus effect.
I've used the hiss generator for Craig Andertons "Mixing with Noise" trick - mentioned in his book "Sonar 3 Mixing and Mastering". I HIGHLY recommend the book:

Mixing with noise is his way of temporarily adding pink noise in a mix to determine the relative ballance of tracks and verify that critical instruments are peaking above the mix and don't get lost in the noise. Here's more on that:

I second the book recommendation. It has lots of great tips beyond the normal using the software info.
