Hey, thanks for the replies, guys! I appreciate the feedback. This song isn't really finished yet and I plan on adding some other touches to make it better.
The drums are produced with
Addictive Drums. I need to tweak some things a bit but I don't want to change the beat since that would change the song.
Vocals were recorded with an
SM58 going straight into the computer. I touched up the EQ with
the iZotope Ozone 5 plugin. I tracked the vocals twice and left them dead center in the mix. I took the better take and made it the dominant track by making it louder than the other track so that I have a nice double effect with some dynamic characteristics.
The guitars were recorded through my Digitech RP1000 with a custom patch I made based on
the Peavey 5150 II amp model it features. That amp model is going through a Mesa Rectifier 412 cab model supplied on the unit. The gain is set to 60, bass is at 4.5, mid is at 5.0, treble is at 5.5. I also have the parametric EQ on with the low at 85hz boosted by 6db with a narrow bell, mid at 500hz cut by -7db with a medium bell, and high at 3.75khz boosted by 2db with a wide bell. The sound also features a CS Comp stomp model with the sustain at 25, attack at 0, and the level at 99. I'm also using an EMT240 Plate reverb with predelay at 0ms, decay at 50, liveliness at 80, and level at 20. The guitar I used was a Fender Fat Strat on the bridge humbucker. The guitar was tracked 4 times and panned 100% to the left and right. I made some other EQ adjustments within Mixcraft but that's it. I'm glad you enjoyed the guitar tone. I've been working on it for a long time.
I used a multiband compressor and exciter on the whole mix to define the highs and shape the lows. Then I put it all through a limiter to smooth out some of the peaks. So there you have it.
