Well take the nearest road down to your music center and buy a CAD (not Rode) VSM, you will love it. I think it may be my next purchase, unless I get some different heads for my oktavas
The CAD VSM is getting hot for a reason, it rocks! I love it on vocals, guitar cabs, percussion...would make a nice go to tube mic. It's clean and quiet also, has low freq response down to 10hz and an unhyped top end. The midrange is strong with a nice presence.
I like it on vocals because there's really no sibilance issues.
Oh, and it looks cool.
I just let a friend with a pro studio borrow one and it's currently knocking his Lawson mic out of the box on many duties. Not bad for an American made mic for less than half price of the Lawson!
Now that the VX2 is discontinued the VSM is top of the line for CAD. The VSM does share the same 1.1" Optema capsule that the VX2 came with.
