CAD Microphones..?

I've been reading these rave reviews about the GXL2200 and GXL2400..

are these microphones really THAT GOOD? are they "good" only because of how well they perform in their price range, or do they preform well in general?

EDIT: and the CAD CM217 Model as well

Also, what are the big differences between the GXL2200 and GXL2400?

They are good microphones within their price range.
The difference between the two is in the flavor.
 
The CM217's are good because of their price range. I've got them in combination with the CAD 7-piece drum mic set, and they're pretty darn handy for being so cheap. I'd recommend them if you're on a tiiiiiight budget!

Dunno about the others though! Never tried them!
 
those are great mics for being so cheap.

typically this is true of all cad mics - for the price they perform much better than they should.

same with the cad m179 (best of class for price imho), m177 (cardoid only version of 179 and cheaper yet), m9 tube (great vocal mic for studios and cheap), trion 8000 (great on softer vocals and female vocals specifically), trion 7000 (nice ribbon mic), the equitek series... and so on.

all are great for the money. some just cost more than others.

cad doesn't sell anything crappy - although I dont know their drum mic sets much so they could be crappy for all I know, but I've used almost everything else they've made in recent years and quite enjoyed it.

Yeah, I ordered one of those a few weeks ago. I put it on Omni (giggling like a little kid because it was my first multi-pattern mic :D) and it totally rocked on acoustic guitar. For a mic I paid $120, I was floored with the results.
