Cabling cost estimate?

I am starting to plan out the next incarnation of my "studio." It will be a pretty basic 8 track analog setup. I'll be running (hopefully) a 12x4x2 mixer with direct outs used where the busses wont cover. I'll run one (maybe two) FX units. I don't want to scrimp on cables, but I also don't want to get super expensive cables when I'm doing lower-fi indie music. I know this is pretty subjective stuff, but in your opinion, can I cable my gear for $250? Less? I really don't know. Along these lines, I also am curious if phantom power can be transfered down a snake if I chose to use one. THanks for any help you can give.

If you DIY, yes; otherwise, probably not. Basically, add up the number of feet you need and the number of connectors, figure $1 per foot plus $4 per connector (TRS are cheaper) for commercial, about half for DIY.
