Cables and noise.

I would appreciate advice on several best options for a cable between the synth and soundcard for recording purposes. I am looking for something least noisy and not very expensive.

Here is my strange experience.
I recorded a file with Audiophile 2496. At the point of silence the noise level was shown as -91 db.
Then I recorded the same track with Solo EX through the same cable with additional plug converters, the "silence" noise level went up to -72 db.
No secret that Solo is considered by many people to be "noisy", but I didn't expect such a big difference and went on experimenting.
I started connecting all sort of cables with and without converters to Solo line in to check the noise. It was very different in the range of -78db up to -50 db. With no cables attached there was no visible noise down to -95 db.
So its gotta be the cable that causes noise, right?

Which ones should I pick?

Looks like I am talking to myself, but it is always nice to talk to a smart person ;)

I goofed on measurements.
With no cables attached or with recording channels turned off Solo shows - 84 db. (under the same conditions Audiophile delivers around 90 db.)
Turning Solo recording channels on immediately rases noise up to - 72 db. With recording faders are all the way up, the noise goes up to -50 db.
With faders in the middle position different cables give noise level between -72db - 50db.

Anyone?

Personally I wouldnt be worried about a noise floor that low, my noise floor is about -58 with my stuff plugged into my SantaCruz card, still cant really hear to much noise. I would be estatic about a noise floor as low as you have:)
