I'm kinda a newbie to home recording, i've got a boss digital recoder, nice mics, guitars, lot's of outboard geat etc. but i'm looking for suggestions on what cables to go with.

ie. should i get separate xlr's or a xlr snake type/ or seperate trs's or snake type trs's

And also what brand of cable , i have money to spend so want a real good quality, though doesn't have to be the absolute best.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Thanks a ton

It depends on what you are trying to do. If it's just you, you won't be recording more than one instrument at a time, and a snake isn't really necessary (well, maybe on drums). If you are going to be recording your band. once again, subjective to how you want to accomplish that. You never mentioned a mixer, do you have one? If you are going to buy XLR, brand isn't so much important as making sure they are shielded. Unsheilded cables will be noisy. What other "outboard gear" are you talking about?
If you tell me what you are trying to accomplish, I could help a bit more.

Hey thanks Rokket i do have a mixer but it's just a six channel behringer, which was ok when it was just me recording, but i'm looking to record others now so i'm looking to upgrade mixer too (any suggestions on a good mixer? i'm looking for twelve to sixteen channels) as far as outboard gear i have compressor/limiter, behringer ultrafex, eq.

Am also looking to buy an outboard effects processor something with nice reverb for vocals especially. (any suggestion there? in about $300 price range)

Oh one more thing looking for a nice two channel mic pre for around $300 also for recording my acoustic tracks mostly, also for vox. I have a Art studio mp which is ok after i threw a telefunken tube in, but looking for a nice clean transparent sound.

Any suggestions would be awesome

Yamaha MG series. They have a really good 16 channel mixer.

As far as vocal processors, for that price check out Digitech. TC Helicon is the current leader in that area, but they are pricey.
Good luck and let me know if you need anything.

are the cables that are like 14 bucks at guitar center wrapped around the boom stand, are those okay? i bought a mic cable and it sounded fine, i was wondering about getting a guitar cable too, anyone tried em?

The cheaper you go, the more problems you are going to have with them. You are sacrificing sound to save a few dollars, and to me, that's not an even trade off.
