cable question

I want to hook up some monitors to my soundcard. I have an Maudio DIO 2448 card, which has two analog RCA outputs (left and right), and it also has optical out, but that doesn't figure into this equation, as far as I can see. The monitors has 1/4" and XLR inputs, the XLR being balanced and the 1/4" is unbalanced. The cable run length will be less than 4 feet from soundcard to monitors. Where can I find a cable that is 1/4" on one end and RCA male on the other? If I can't find this, can I simply use an adapter (1/4" female to RCA male) and then use a "guitar" cable to run the signal? OR should I be using the balanced XLR? Thanks for any input.
 
i think the adapter idea is the way to go, and i don't think the balanced xlr factors into this equasion with the rca's.....what i'd do though is use rca cables with a female rca-male 1/4" jack rather than a guitar lead
 
I agree on the XLR part. But standard RCA-Jack cables are available, I own a couple. I never encounter problems when I connect an RCA output to a Jack input using those cables. But then again, I didn't use it for Hi End puposes, you might want to check the impedance compatibility. Maybe you can find something on www.rane.com/library.html . Good Luck on your Quest!

Thanks for the help. I found a Monster RCA-to-1/4" cable that will work perfectly. No adapters required.
