OK, (deep breath, slow exhale) here goes,
I got to do some testing on the C3 this weekend and...I like it, for the money. It's warm and smooth but not too 'silky', very clear and natural without the brittleness of the marshal mxl2001. I liked it on acoustic, although I still need to work with placement a little better, I just did a couple of quick acoustic things in a rushed way and I think I'll like it better if I take some more time and hone in on the sweet spot.. Mostly I used it on my vox and this is where I really liked it, nice rich full bottom and clear accurate highs. My voice can tend to sound shrill when I sing in higher registers and it didn't seem to color it at all (which for my voice may not be such a good thing, I can use all the coloration I can get) but in the lower registers, really sweet and full, this is where, for me, the mike really shined. Later in the week I'll be recording a woman with a beautiful voice and I'm very much looking forward to seeing how it works with someone who actually can sing well up there. The rolloff seemed nice and smooth and the mulit patterns are a big plus, for me, worth the extra $ from the C1. Used it on piano a little bit and it seemed fine but I've never gotten the piano sound I hear in my head from my upright with any mike so with that in mind, it did a decent job.
All in all I'm very happy w/ the purchase. So those are my preliminary thoughts thus far, I'll add more later as I discover more. I'm not spamming here but if you don't believe me just ignore me, that last thread was, in the end, just a distraction from the reason we're all here, we just love to record! Have a good day.

Welcome spectoar!!!

Question: I am truly interested in adding another mic to my small
but growing arsenal of mics and your review has strengthed my drive to purchase one,but have you tested the mic in cab mic'ing
for bass and gits? Do you think it will be sufficient in areas of acoustic mic'ing and, maybe overheads!!??
Take your time!
Thx
Mr.Q

hey misterqcue, I cut a blues guitar track (clean with sustain)with a sure sm 57 on the amp cab and a c-1 about a foot and a half from the amp....I was going to mix the 2 tracks together but the c-1 track sounded so good by itself that im not even using the sm57 track. The c3 should sound good.
