Hi guys,

Any recommendations about C1000 condenser mics. Many artcles tend to recommend not using them as they are not great sounding? I have around a £200 budget for drum overhead mics? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

For that price you can get a matched pair of SE1A mics....two for the price of one and much better sounding.

Not sure what they're goin for there but the Studio Projects B1 is (was?) about in that range for a pair. Been using em for OH's for awhile and they're not too bad at all.

I find the C1000S to be handy when my go-to mics don't give the results I'm after. It's rarely my first choice. I wouldn't call it accurate but I would call it interesting. If you already have a good sounding condenser or three and a selection of dynamics then getting a C1000S makes sense. I don't think I'd want to depend on one for overheads.

I agree. I've said before, they're not my go to mics for stuff you'd usually grab SDC for but they're not bad mics at all. They ARE my go to mics for toms and the occassional snare. I like them for congas too.
