C1 or C3??

Well... In thinking it over I think perhaps I will try the C3 mic. I'm guessing that if the C1 has gotten such rave reviews, that I should expect the same quality out of the C3. The addition of the other patterns and such is a bonus too, as my Audix and AT mics are just your standard single pattern mic.

Anyone have any objections to my logic?

velvet, that's a wise choice as the C3 is even better sounding than the
C1 (outstanding clarity of vocal detail).

I like the C-3

Hi All,

I ordered a C-3 from Bayview Pro Audio in Tumwater WA. They shipped it to me at no charge. I even got it the next day since I am close. They are very nice people and I would order from them again.

As for the mic, I like it so far. Nice tone that is slightly colored to the warm side with some nice high end that is not harsh. I haven't done any female vocals yet, but think they will sound great. I love acoustic guitar through it. My only complaint is that I did not buy two. With such a small price difference between the C-1 and the 3 I would buy the C-3.

It truly is a great mic for the money. Not a U-87 but damn nice anyway.

Thanks all for the input.

I just ordered one from Warren at MacMidiMusic.

We'll see how I like it I guess :)

Hey Chris,

No, I am not hiding. I got back from a 17 day vacation which I really needed. Now, I am jammin to get the new racks done in time for NAMM, as we are showing the new Toft Audio ACTII. I hope this one will turn some heads.

I decided to hang a TLM103 next to the entire B Series for the show, and I will leave the U87 next to the C Series. I was thinking of changing to a Brauner and an AT4033 for comparisons, but I don't have time to get one, because I don't own any Brauners.

Anyway, I am around, but just getting busier. :D

Alan,

Good to see you back, rested and ready to go...........lol. So a couple of questions for you.

When can we expect to see the B series, other new products and their associated pricing here in Aust.

How does the base model "B" equate to the C1.

Which of the B series would you recommend for overheads, if any.

Regards,

ChrisO

Chris,

Ok, the B Series is in production. We have sent them the final packaging files, so my guess is I will have them in 45 to 60 days. Mick has them on order, so a week or so after that for you. The VTB-1 may be delayed a few weeks as the LED's are backordered a few weeks...dammit!

As for overheads, the B1 is very nice, but the price is so cheap, the B3 would be my choice as a result of the pattern control. One of our beta testers here has been using a pair of B1's for many different applications. He did a church choir overhead using two B1's and was knocked out by the results. He really likes the B1's, and this guy has some very impressive mics.

The B Series is not as colored as the C Series, so the B Series does not have the "Vintage" sound. They are very clean and crisp with more of a natural sound to them. I must say, I am very impressed by them, but you would expect me to say that, so hopefully no one will start the kill Alan for spaming!

The response should be very good on these mics once they start shipping. I have done heavy comparisons with all the low end mics, and the B Series really stands out. For $79.00 US for the B1, those that can should buy a pair right away. Anyway, we shall see what happens soon enough.
