I've already decided on Studio Projects, but I can't decide on the mic B1 or C1. The diference in price is $130, BUT WHAT IS THE DIFERENCE IN QUALITY???
The build quality between the C and B Series is really almost the same. The B Series is really built well, and in some respects is using some newer technology which reduces the amount of parts needed, which is a good thing. The less electronics you can use...the better!
The C Series is really a line that does compete with the very expensive brands out there. Its character sound has made the C Series a very much sought after mic, and yet the C Series is already in my opinion, extremely innexpensive considering the kind of build and sonic quality you get.
The B Series, is a different approach to get a better quality of build and sound than offered anywhere at its price. My guess is if you took 10 people and did a side by side comparison between a C1 and a B1, 8 of them will chose the C1. The C1 is thicker, fuller, and very German sounding. The B Series is more subtle, crisp, not harsh, full, but not a C1. In either case, I have had spme of our Beta testers claim that not only is the B1 a great vocal mic, but in some of the applications they used it in, they felt the B1 did a better job than the C1 did. I will post these results on our web site when the time is right.
I expect the B Series success will be against the Marshall, Nady, Shure, Berringer, and other lower cost mics. They are much better than those brands I just mentioned, and at about $79.00 in the stores for
the B1, pairs will become the thing to do. The B Series is really a great quality mic. Not everyone can afford the C Series, so I am bringing a quality mic to all of those whose budget is not yet in the C Series arena.
I hope this helps.
