Since I have win98se, with the Fostex MR8 I have to use a separate card reader to import wav into my pc for burning. Question: When I save a file on the PC from the card reader through the USB port, then use a USB connected CD burner (withNero) to access this file and burn, am I going through the soundcard at all? The thing is I don't want to go through the soundcard on my PC.

If all you are doing is saving to hard disk and then burning to CD from .wavs, then NO you don't need a soundcard. At that point you are only using the computer as a storage device.

Only if you're going to playback or process the .wavs on your computer do you need a soundcard.

Thanks!

Great to know, since my PC is about as reliable as my 1970 Fiat. Thanks for the help!
