Buzzing sound

Hello,

I'm running a behringer xm2000s into a lexicon lambda interface, via usb into adobe audition on my laptop. As soon as I hit the record button, however, I get a buzzing noise. I've tried running my mic through a door into the next room, and it still picks up the noise, so I don't think the microphone is actually picking the noise up from anywhere.

Any suggestions about what this is, or how to solve it?

I'm only trying to record one track, so I don't think it is a latency problem, though I don't know that much about it.

If anyone knows of a place to upload a sample, I'd be happy to do so.

Hi,
you have an earth loop via the usb. This is becoming a common problem. Sound on Sound magazine, December issue had an article on this.

Power sources

It might possibly be the power sources to your equipment. If they are running parallel to the audio or usb cables, that could be the problem. Normally, if they have to be close to each other, try moving them around so the intersect in a 90 degree angle. If it doesn't help, it may be your usb all together.
