I have a 4 mo old 16-chan Tascam M164 mixer that has a buzz. Took it to the repair shop, paid $60 bucks, waited for 8 weeks and the guy found nothing. Took it back home and the buzz is still there. The guy told me it could be there's a ground loop in my studio. But everything else in my studio works fine...I plugged it in another room and the buzz came up as well...Is there something wrong with the electricity in my house? (it's brand new!) I need some advice from you gurus out there. This is driving me crazy.

How far away is the repair shop?
Seem to me you should bring it back and make him prove that there is no buzz by hooking it up and giving a listen.
Then You'll know that there is something going on at your place.
There is a whole list of things that could be the problem a few would be

Florescent lighting
make sure everything you have plugged in is on the same circuit
other appliances on the same line that you have your equipment on

Just to name a few of the usual suspects.

another way to approach this would be to eliminate everything but the mixer amp and speakers... now how much noise??? then start adding the rest of the kit... watch for devices that start adding up the noise... ya might try different cables on the ones that add noise... it can be a bitch to track down sometimes... ya just gotta take it slow and logical... make some notes if it helps you out... good luck...-
