I am going away to college and I am trying to figure out my music setup. I want to buy some speakers for my laptop (macbook pro) that I can use for mixing and listening to music. I will probably be doing more listening than mixing so I guess that is a higher priority. I am trying to find something that does both well. Because I will be living in a dorm I won't be mixing at really high levels. For the same reason I want to speakers to be fairly small. Right now I am looking at the $100 to $200 price range, but I could go out of that range if I have to. The moniters look good to me right now are the KRK RP-5 Rokit. How good will this sound while just listening to music? Any information would be very helpful?
