Hello guys, so how you understood i'm ready to buy equipment for my home recording studio and now I'm lost a little bit. what I'm going to buy is:
Mic's
Amp's
Midi keyboard/ el piano
Mixer
Compressor/ limiter
Processor
Monitors... etc.
And a lot other accessories

So.. when I started to think how to connect everything and how much possibilities there are I just get in lost. I'm wondering about all compressors, processors and etc.
the system is: Mic- Amp(if mixer don't have a 24v, right?) - mixer aaand... compressor, processor?? I have never seen how everything is connected. Do the sound is going to pc throw all that gear or this equipment is used after sound is recorded, like a plugin's? Basically i need to know where the final sound is coming from. I worked only with a mixer, amp, so i had no problems, but i never used other sound processing equipment.. Some more questions:
Do you see any differences between usb mixer and mixer which is connected with sound card? (which is better and why?)
Does mixer do good job which has 24V? I mean if i'll connect mic's straight into it. or good amp is a better choice in any ways?
Do you have something else (and very important) to say about mixers?

So, i would like someone to answer to these questions, also i would love to get other advices and info, what you can give to me, from you guys.

Sorry for my english (I still studying it) :)

Thank you,
regards
Erik

Hey Skew .... welcome to the forum.
The last thing before the computer will be something like the "Tascam US 1642" preamp and interface eliminating the need for a mixer.

You only need a 'mixer' if you are trying to mix multiple sources (for example 8 mics for the drums) into a couple of outputs to go into the interface to the computer. Otherwise get an interface with enough inputs (as many as you will ever need for recording multiple channels at one time) and forget the mixer.

May I suggest that the first thing you should buy is a large bag of coffee...

That will help keep you awake while you peruse the information on this site:

TweakHeadz Lab Electronic Musician's Hangout

Then spend some time reading the "Newbies" section of this board, along with any others that might be pertinent to what you are trying to do.

Buying things without understanding what they are, what they do, and whether or not it's actually something you need.

Good luck...
