Hey guys and gals =]

I'm looking for a new guitar, so far maybe a PRS, Ibanez, Strat, or Tele. But my problem lies in convincing my parents to let me get a new guitar. (I know, I'm a lame 19 year old in College still asking my parents permission.) Anyways, I want some...tips I guess on how to go about this.

Their response so far are along the lines of:
"You already have two guitars, why do you need more?"
I have an acoustic and electric (Epiphone Special II...I want to upgrade, but don't NEED any guitar. Just a want)
They also tell me I waste money on worthless music stuff, and I spend too much money on stupid stuff. I have a good job though, in which I could earn the money back in a month or two. I just am never able to spend money on stuff I want (mostly music stuff). I was wondering if anybody else had stories like this, or anything to help me.
Waits for "Your parents are right, save your money so you can learn responsibility"

Buy it with your own money? Who cares what your parents think.

Show this to your parents they will agree why you want it..

Repeat this over and over like a mantra:

Never buy gear on credit.

The only exception is if you've got an important gig, something has crapped out, and you can't borrow something to get you through.

Also, if you haven't figured out exactly what you want, you're not ready to buy.

I feel your pain. G.A.S. can make me crazy too.

If your parents are putting up major duckies for your education expenses then asking permission is the mature thing to do. If not you need to cut the apron strings.

Well, my real answer is listen Milnoque. Maybe some of can afford buying something that you will never use really but assuming you will continue playing guitar. First try to see where/why you need an upgrade...

Maybe what you really need/want is a nylon stringed classical guitar, or just a new/different set of strings, or a pick-up. It is normal to get bored but, buy something you will still like playing even after the first week.

Tell them if they don't buy it you're going to quit school and become a carny.
