Buying a cab for a combo?

I own a Marshall JCM-2000 DSL 401 combo. Its not a bad unit, the clean is very nice, and when overdrive on clean is turned up you get a nice crunch. I bought a Boss DS-1 with a Keeley mod and that made it over the top.

Anyways I was thinking about bringing that sound out by hooking it up to a cab. Price is not an issue, What would you suggest?

Thanks.

Depends what style of music you will be doing??

The trusty ole standby is, of course, Avatar. You can probably convince them to put yoru choice of pseakers in a cab 2x or 4x, they probably wont care what you put in it as long as you adjust the price a bit. YOu dont have to simply settle for what they offer in their "store".

If you want something more custom you can try http://www.earcandycabs.com (backlog with long waits, but superb quality build)

http://www.geezersoundco.com/index.html the guy lives close to Eminence Ky and can build a solid cab with reasonably priced speakers.

best build I've seen so far is http://www.rivercityrockets.com/GriffithsSoundWorks.html Griffiths Sound Works out of Des Moines. Awesome build quality, beautiful work, understands how the sound behaves, has a 2x12 ported monster cab that will rock yer socks!

one thing you may want to consider is some of these companies are making "convertable" cabs... that is a cab that can be used as a closed or open back as needed... very cool idea...

Avatar are great cabs on a budget, but if price is not an issue, I wouldn't suggest them.

It really depends on what style you're playing, but with your amp I'll assume either metal or hard rock.

For metal, I'd reccomend looking into a Vader or a Genz Benz G-Flex

For Hard Rock, an Orange, or a Genz Benz G-Flex.

The G-Flex is a very versatile cab, so if you're a versatile player, it's definitely worth taking a look at.

Be sure to check the impedance minimum that the amp can drive and the combined impedance of the internal speaker and whatever cabs you are considering.
