I agree with Queue. But wot is the best room for recording drums in ? I've see a few recording studios with very small, deadened areas for the drums and others with bigger "live" rooms. Also, are reverb effects added to drums on professional recordings or are you hearing the real sound of the room ?

Sure it is a pretty wide open question, and not easily answered, like "what is the best car?"

Maybe if we take the opposite approach, "What makes a BAD drum room?"

I can answer part of your question, Gibbz. For the small, deadend rooms, reverb and FX are most certainly added (if desired). Those studios with the "live room" may not need to add... once again depending on the desired sound.
