As the years have worn on, I've become cockier and cockier with regard to my perceived ability to fix broken microphones, and have even begun buying them broken, confident that I'll be able to fix them (the good news is that I usually can) - finally got my #$@ ->
(any excuse to use the new icon! Had to go for it).
I got an Audix D6 in the mail yesterday - no signal at all, but it's in perfect condition visually. Zero resistance between each of the three capsule leads where they originate at the capsule housing and the tip of the corresponding XLR pin, and no shorts. I even rigged up a test XLR jack and touched the three leads to the right places on the capsule housing - nothing.
I already contacted the Audix service dept., but I figured I'd post here to see if anyone has any other ideas before I ship it off.
