I want to do the equivalent of burning a CD with all track info but using a dat tape or possibly a standalone audio CD burner.
Anyone have any ideas?

Yeah, how about a DAT recorder or a standalone CD burner? :D

Seriously, what are you asking?

moskus; instead of creating an audio CDr from, say CD Architect, or from a collection of edited tracks using Nero, I want to write directly to a dat tape (or a standalone CD recorder) so that all the start IDs are written just as they would be with the computer driven CD writer.

The only way I can do this at present is to output the continuous wav file to dat and then put in the IDs manually after the recording - or write the ID's on the fly whilst recording which is very inaccurate.
The material is classical music and does not have silence between tracks. Start ID's have to be accurately placed within 100ms.

Another way to do all this is to burn a CDr in the normal way then transfer it to dat but this is so laborious!
