Few questions
1) With the br8 i have the option of recording dry and trying different effects once ive recorded. So i recorded all my guitar parts dry , figuring i'd add the effects at the end. Problem is, you can only change one effect at a time. In other words say i recorded a picking part on the 1st track and a strumming part on the second. I want to use the jazz guitar effect on track one and say an clear sky effect on track 2. I cant figure out how to go about this. I would record with the effect but the distortion is much lower when i add the effect afterwards. Anyone?

2) I'm monitoring my music on both headphones and Roland speakers (nothing fancy-100$) The thing is i dont know how to actually judge the volume of the music considering the headphones have a volume control, the speakers have a volumue control (bass, treble) and theres still the master volume (on the br8) . Anyone?

3)I recorded 5 tracks- 1 & 2-Guitar strumming. 3-Guitar picking 4-Backround guitar 5-Guitar solo .
Im using the br8's drum machine which doesnt need a track of its own. I need a lot of tracks for the vocals now. How should i bounce these tracks together? I know i have the option of undo but that will only apply until i record something else no? I mean, can i undo a bounce at ANY time? I'm scared to try it.

4)Should all the music eventually end up on one track ? When im recording vocals dont i want to be listening to ALL the music at one volume? Sometimes when the music is too loud when im singing i have to lower ALL the faders. I cant imagine thats what they do in a proper studio right?

5)Whats the best way to record thick thick backround vocals-think def leppard. Can i record on one track and then copy it to a 2nd track and then bounce it back to the first track? Will that have any effect? If so im thinking i can do that 20 times over right?

If you can help me on any of the above questions id be thrilled.

Thanx so much :)

72fender> Are you selecting the correct track to add the effect to that was recorded dry? Press the UTILITY button and than select the EFFECTs icon. Use the TIME/VALUE to select the the track that want to add an effect. Here you also hear what every effect will have on that track.

72fender> All recording levels should be between the 12 & 4 rangeon the BR-8 main screen. This should put your output sound levels in the right volume range (I think). I use the BR-8 master fader to control the output.

72fender> I haven't had to bounce any tracks but I know the concept. Tracks 7 & 8 are the bounce tracks. I would bounce your tracks 3&4 to make one (bounce the tracks to make one track).

72fender> All songs, if recoded on 4 track, 8 track, 16 track, etc are all mixed "down" to two stereo tracks.

Listen to your favorite CD with some headphone and speakers. Listen to how the music is spread around you as a listener. The tracks are "panned" to either the left or right channels to create a stereo spread. The BR-8 will "pan" tracks.

Take the music that you're recorded and press the "pan". Then select the track that you want panned and turn the TIME/VALUE dial to adjust the pan. Try and this, pan your vocal to the center, your picking track to the right and strum track to the left.

72fender> WOW, good luck with this one!

Again, I'm pretty sure you can't bounce with this machine. My take is that you have eight tracks, that's it. You perfect each track using your v tracks (if you have enought space left). Once you're done, you mix them down. So for example, if you want thick vocals, you'll have three or four tracks devoted to vocals and you mixdown with three tracks devoted to vocals. On the levels when you're recording- there are probably no cues. You can turn down the other track faders as low as you like, because it won't matter until mixdown what the level is. It won't change because there's no bouncing. Once you get each track recorded, you set the faders to the right mix and mix it down. It's a pretty simple machine. The only thing you've got going for you with this machine is that you have eight tracks, v-tracks (which you can't use as extra tracks in mixdown) and built-in effects. Eight and you're done. Simple. You might need something more complicated. Hope this helps. I might be wrong because I don't own one, but I looked at one today at the music store. Not even any external auxillaries for outside effects.

Sorry Shana, I just read 72fender's comments and obviously I may be wrong about some of this. Just trying to help.
