Wicked Machine
My son and his Fiancé have moved out of my house and I've got a finished room (it's about 12'x20', roughly) that has carpeted floors. Now I really hate pulling that up and putting in a wood floor but I know that would probably be better. Under the carpet and mat is a plywood sub-floor. Ok, I know the carpet will only deal with some higher frequencies and will have a tendency to not be even. The walls are drywall. In how I record I don't record any acoustic drums, just acoustic guitar, vox and a mic a guitar amp now and then.

If I do proper Bass trapping is the carpet floor manageable? But since the ceiling is reflective I've got an issue there too.

Would you guys even bother doing any room treatment with carpeted floors?

I've done some searches but generally speaking it's preferred to have a reflective floor.

Definitely treat the room. For tracking, you could always buy a bamboo mat, or some manufactured wood panels for a small area of the room.

Yeah, I've actually brought in a piece of plywood when tracking in my carpeted bedroom studio.

From here I've just got to figure out what I need. I'm thinking starting with 703 Bass traps and go from there.

Thanks for the ideas.
