I have a yamaha mixer, with xlr and 1/4 inch inputs in the back. I am looking to build it into a desk, but i want to move the connectors to the top, (like behringers)

does anyone have any ideas, besides really short cables? can anyone find a link to like a 90 degree connector?

thannks

Why not just build a console with patchbays along side the mixer. Then run short cables to the bays. See Track Rats thread below named "Studio Remodeling-again".

It wouldn't be that difficult to do but could get expensive depending on how many connectors you're talking about. A piece of sheet metal, a good drill, some good wire and some soldering skills will get you there.

It would be easier and cheaper to buy a basic patchbay and some balanced patch cables and hook them up to the balanced inputs of the mixer and bypass the XLR's if that works for your setup. If you need the XLR's, you could always get an XLR panel from someplace like www.procosound.com

Hope this helps.

I'll third the motion... patchbay, maybe to the side instead of the top...?

i read trackrats thread, but i didnt think you had to wire any patchbays. I just want to go in, and then out with 1/4 inch cables.

it works that way right!?!?!?

no wait, i need xlrs. ahhhhhhhhhhh!

i will be using the onboard preamps on the mixer

Well I don't understand what it is you want to do?

What for? The only thing I can think of is re patching? Hence the patch bay suggestion. Which connectors....the Mic's?direct lines out,? lines in? Aux's? Monitor outs? A sub panel for Mics XLR's will solve that. A patch bay will solve all the others.
