Build a snake cable??

Any suggestions? I need to get a snake cable for my studio to help clean up and keep my cables in better condition.

I'm looking into making my own. Is this a good idea?
How would I go about doing it?

If it's not a good idea,
Anyone know of a site that builds cheaper snakes that are decent quality?
