Budget recording packages(now with pics)...

Ok my kit from Musicians friend arrived today as discussed. The kit is here.

The speakers sound pretty well for their size. The cables(1/8 stereo) that came with the speakers only allow you to connect to factory soundcard not the Edirol USB adaptor(RCA). Other than that all pieces came complete. The mic came with a cable that was able to connect to the Mixer.

All parts seems decent quality, pictures to come as soon as my digital cam batteries finishes charging(30 minutes or so).

I also bought this thing.

pretty cool device, not sure what it's good for yet.

I will try to sample some guitar sounds soon as well.

Here are some pics. It sounds very good so far, low noise and the monitors are very clear (not as good as some of the bigger Gennalicks?) The only concern is that I have to really crank the amp for the mic to get any decent levels on the board and in Cakewalk. I have to peg everything just to get an acceptable record volumn.

This kit costed me $212.94 shipped. And included everything I needed minus Amp and guitars....

Computer is a Pen IV 2.4 ghz, with a 20 GIG with WIn XP, and a 60 GIG as the swap file drive also music file storage.

Blue box is the Edirol USB Soundcard.

Crate DXJ-112, wonderful modeling amp, more flexible than any amps I have owned so far. But the speakers rattle very harshly when cranked.

My Guitars, Ibanez RG570CT, Ibanez RG520QS, and Ovation Mini Me?

That Prodikeys thing is intriguing, even though I usually boycott anything with the name Creative on it.

Let me know how it works out for ya.

Have you adjusted the windows recording options? Finding them is kinda counter-intuitive, so people often forget about them.

That Prodikey thing looks kinda neat, but if I get a small midi controller I'll probably go with a standalone unit. Nothing really agains creative, I've just found the perfect keyboard (for typing) and hope I never have to replace it. :)
