I currently have one of those awful behringer preamps. I'm considering a slight upgrade but am on a tight budget. I'm looking to improve the quality of my vocal recordings but don't know how much of a difference changing the preamp would make.

I noticed a mention of Yamaha MG10/2 mixer. would this be an improvement on the behringer for quality of recording? or would it be worth getting the tube MP V3?

sorry if any of this sound stupid, but I have no knowlege of preamps and am on a budget. thanks.

Unless you need a mixer I would just wait until you have about $500 to spend. That will open up a lot more options for you instead of just throwing away more money on cheap stuff.

I read a review for a Behringer pre (T1953) a while back on the Zzounds.com site. It's the first review on the page and he talks about adding all the Behringer extras to his pre and using them as a team to get a good sound. I don't know if it's a serious option or not but it caught my eye.

Dot, I suspect the Rane has been overtaken by the Joe Meek 3Q in terms of overall value. Like to see you (and Steve "ozraves" Langer) check one out sometime. Haven't tried the Rane BTW.

Thanks

For for your help everyone. That's really useful. might save for the Joe Meek

You may also want to check out the FMR RNP as well. It's only $475.
