Well preferably I wouldn't like to buy a used mic without trying it out and because there are hardly any music shops near me I will probably buy the pair online unless they give you some sort of guarantee on eBay . So the best priced ones that I have seen via reviews for that price category are the nt5's The mxl 603 and the se electronics sex1a and the audio technica 2031 so which out of those would you say posesess the warmest and most natur sound ?

I purchase used all of the time - you are protected using ebay through pay pal on such purchases.

Ebay's safe enough in that the item must match the description.
If it says working as new then it must be working as new.

Just stick to guys with piles of positive feedback for safety.

Boyce Avenue.....ewwwwww.

But yeah, listen to what moresound says!

And ebay is very serious about the 'buyer' getting satisfied. The seller is on His/Her own. If they misrepresent the item, and you buy it using PayPal. You'll get satisfaction. Just make sure it doesn't say 'As-Is' anywhere in the listing.

First the NT5's are not budget unless you're a top of the line pro studio owner. They run $500 the pair for matched stereo; a great buy considering they are incredible mics. I'm not familiar with the audio technicas but the NT5's are great. Now, on acoustic guitar, try this. I dropped the NY5 into the sound hole and recorded a 1942 Gibson acoustic with that. The annoying string plucks went away and the wound of the guitar was full and warm. If you have both mics, set them both up near each other and record on separate tracks. Then A/B them. Good Luck.

If $500 for a pair of SDC pencil mics is top of the line pro studio quality, I'm bloody George Massenburg. xD

My budget is exceeded by the oktava not the mxl but how does the mxl sound ? Compared to the nt5 and audio technica

I'm also a fan of the Oktavas, but got mine cheap ($50 each brand new). For what you want to do, I prefer Studio Projects C-4. In the same price range as the NT-5's. Multiple capsules, shock, mounts, flight case, good customer service. They're pretty neutral, very good acoustic guitar mics.

The Golden Age Project FC4ST Condenser Microphone - Stereo Matched Pair soound great. around 149USD street
