If you read the posts herein, you will find many favorable comments about the Yorkvilles.
I have a pair and they are just great. Yes, there are other monitors and many are probably great; however, for the money you can't go wrong with the Yorkvilles.
You can reach them on the net and find the dealer closest to you.
almost no such thing other than those behringer monitors. what is your budget for ACTIVE MONITORS?
alesis Bah, Humbug... they sound great. even in cars.lol. now at high volumes they arn't the best but mid volumes they are some of the best sounding LOW COST monitors. plus they can play deep as hell.
I checked those out too and they looked good. I was going to go with them and about to get them but then I didn't like the way the casing looked.
It totally didn't go with my decor. I like when there is no covering and you can see the different sized circles on the front. When you cover these up it totally defeats the point and makes it that much harder to impress the chickies so covering = no go!
So the ones i just got will look much much cooler when i hook them up to my home entertainment system (now I can watch Episode I in style!)
Thanks for the definition on what I am trying to achieve with them Gidge. I guess compared to my pc speakers (bluddy muddy mate) anything would be crisp.
On a side note, due to hearing loss I've managed to scoop all my highs and some of my mids. Did anyone see an article on what to do in these cases?
Sometimes when i'm listening I get a headache even though nothing seems extraordinarily loud, does this mean I'm getting overloaded in frequencies in which I've suffered hearing loss and I can't even realize I'm getting damage?
So, to a musician who is trying, due to necessity, to be an engineer, what difference will I notice between say, the delta Studiophile and the Event 20/20bas? Any other suggestions on good powered monitors for a home studio? I really probably can't spend more than $1000 for the pair.
i'm sure you will find the Event 202bas's to be quite louder. they also should have a wider range of frequencies. the ported design of the delta Studiophile is a good design, but i don't see a way that they are gonna produce deep lows. but it all depends on the design. i've never heard the delta Studiophile but they seem to be real nice. the event 20/20bas are great monitors.
what ive learned here, accurate or not, is that studio monitors just cant reproduce frequencies under 50-60hz ACCURATELY, so why have it......i think that feature may be one of its flaws....but well have to wait and see...i would definitely buy a monitor before hearing it myself.....
...and what about the JBL LSR25Ps? It seems the Event 20/20bas are almost twice the price. What do I get for that extra money? How will they make my final mixes sound better? Are they that much more accurate?
I've never done this "for real" before, and I'm not sure I'm convinced my ears are gonna be worth spending the extra money on... ;-)
I already bought a monitor without hearing it myself, i actually read as much as I could and (TA DA) LISTENED to the recommendations i heard around here.
I wouldn't know a monitor from a grapefruit from a hand grenade, so i hope i like the soundszz that comes out of those cool looking circles..
I have my Onkyo 2500 stereo amp in the shop. It powered my monitors. Since it's a dinosaur, though a very good dino., the tech said that they may have problems finding parts. If I can't reasonably get it repaired then I've got to go in another direction.
I had heard about the Yorkvilles, nice price, but I thought they were powered. If you have to power passive monitors what is the difference between them and a regular stereo setup for PC monitoring? For that matter, what is the difference in powered monitors and a stereo if one has a high quality amplification equipment? Of course I understand that speaker design is important.
I just hooked up my monitors and now everything sounds really clean and accurate like. wtf is up with that?
No my band sounds like shit, you know i didn't have this problem when I was using the Boss PC speakers I had. Everything was hunky dorey (sp? what truly is the correct way to spell this colloquialism [sp?] that shares it's name with that delectable candy/snack name {is it a snack or a candy?} )
