budget guitars

alright guys, im wantin to get an acoustic/electric guitar for around 250 bucks. what would you suggest? right now im thinkin about the one from fender.
 
Hi,
I paid $229 for my Alvarez RF-20C, and it is a great guitar at ANY price.
I own Ovations, Gibsons, and quite a few other acoustics, and this guitar holds it's own against all of them.

Here is my extremely educated answer.

Go to a big music store. Grab something in your price range and try it out. Find all the ones you like within your price range and body size - buy the best one.

Brand name is meaningless. How it sounds, looks, and feels is all that matters.
 
If you want a decent Fender at that price, youll have to look used.....the Mexican Standards are about the lowest Id go....

Yamaha Pacifica's rule.....

Peavey makes good budget guitars also....

Yeah that sounds about right. I guess i'll head down to GC tomorrow.

I was thinking just that lol. I didnt know peavey made acoustic guitars! I almost bought a used electric one once from peavey. I shoulda. But instead I went for the shitty squier stratocaster. Wtf was i thinking? oh well.
 
That's a challenging price point; I'd agree that the only way you will get something you like is to find it in the stack.
