Why? Is there like a secret meeting for Presounus owners that us, non owners know about?:D

Sorry Wally... you can come but then we'd have to kill you!

:D :D

Bruce

Buy one and get the info, then take it back. :D

Bruce, check your mail! :)
Everyone else... sorry, but this is for "Class-A" people only ;)
Peace,
Paul

By the way, Bruce...

Do you like the preamp (preamp only) in the Presonus better than the Mackie Pro's?
I'm getting the Mp20's because I want a few "filler" preamps that sound better than the Mackies, to go along with my RNMP pair and the Neve pair that I'm getting in January :)
Peace,
Paul

I almost exclusively use the VXP, unless I need to buss channels or something... about a year and a half ago, I was working with my synth - running it right to the board... sounded ok but not exceptional... and the patches were good. Just for fun I ran it to thru the VXP instead and I noticed somewhat more depth to the sound - not WOW! kind of difference, just more "something"... since then, I've used it as much as possible...

The Mackie pres work well enough for the most part, but I find the PreSonus does give the sound that little extra... I'm real curious to see what the Great River pre that I've got my eye on will do.

MP20

I've got an MP20 - it came highly recommended by a local engineer with a decent body of work behind him (this guy rarely recommends any specific gear). I've had it about 2 years and have always liked it. I've got a couple of Art Tube MP's (I like to run my POD thru them) and I've got a Focusrite Voicemaster - I like the MP20 best. It's clean, it's precise and it justs seems to add that "pro studio" sound that the other pre's don't give me.

I have not been blown away by the Voicemaster, (even though I got it for less than dealer cost - about a year ago) although the mic pre is not bad. I have wanted to replace it with a VXP - unless something of equal value comes along. I only use my Mackie board for mix down - I haven't used the pre's on it since I got the MP20.

I think you will be very satisfied with an MP20.

By the way, where is that meeting?

Yup - s/n 20-0800C003

er um, what do you want to know?

What do you have? MP20? VXP?
Like it? What do you have to compare it to?

Bruce...

Which Great River? The 1073 remake at Mercenary? Had my eye on that one too. Sweet...

MP20

I have an MP-20, and I'm very happy with it. I'd also characterize it as clean ... the pre doesn't color the sound, but it does seem to add noticable clarity to it, especially when compared to a crappy built-in pre that I've got on my digital recorder. I also like the IDSS knob that adds a hard to describe, but pleasant, texture to the sound. The unit adds on noise in the signal chain, which is also a nice plus when compared to some of the lower-end BlueTube, from what I've heard.

Hmmm... the unit ADDS noise? And you think it's a plus???

Bruce

NO! I meant NO!

Isn't English funny?

I MEANT to type "The unit adds NO noise in the signal chain..."

My apologies to the Presonus corporation...

Pete

heh-heh... I figured... I was just in a pissy mood and felt like harassing ya!!! ;)

Cheers Pete!

er, sorry -

Mine is an MP20. It's nice, but I think I prefer the Radius 40 - I went crazy and now have two, so I only use the MP20 when I need more than two pres. Most of what I've done so far has been MS, but having more than two channels allows me to try other things simultaneously.

why do you prefer the radius over the mp20? Is it cleaner, more detailed?
BTW has anyone changed the opamps of the presonus (the "burr brown mod")? Is it worth the hassle?
Will get my mp20 tomorrow, used for under 300 USD, do think this price is OK?
